UMaine researchers and faculty have the expertise and facilities to help companies create prototypes for many early-stage technologies. UMaine assistance can shorten the time to market for new technologies and maximize their value.
Partnering with various UMaine departments, DIC taps into the expertise and resources available on campus. DIC works with companies to identify and solve specific needs or problems such as process or product improvements. DIC often collaborates with private sector partners to receive outside funding for research projects.
UMaine houses a number of pilot production plants and demonstration facilities both on campus in Orono and around the state that can help companies with the development of prototypes, troubleshooting projects, and small-scale pilot production. Trained technicians and staff are on-site to facilitate projects and to provide any necessary resources.
ORED partners with economic development organizations throughout Maine to support the growth of the state's economy. Our partnerships are an important component of our strategy to create new jobs and companies through research and development. ORED also supports the state's efforts to attract and retain new companies by connecting them to UMaine's research and students. |
