Employers may arrange for interview schedules designed to recruit students for full-time employment upon graduation. The Career Center works with employers prior to the campus visit by publicizing the employer's recruiting needs and arranging candidate pre-screening by forwarding resumes of interested students who meet the employer's criteria. On-line resume review and interview scheduling, an on-campus recruiting suite for information sessions and interviews and customized campus visits are all possible through the Career Center with assistance from UMaine Corporate Affiliates.

The University has close to 80 academic departments within its five colleges that offer academic credit and faculty supervision for students seeking work/learning opportunities with employers. The Career Center and Corporate Affiliates staff can assist businesses who wish to establish internship positions and/or engineering cooperative education positions for University of Maine students with their companies. This includes advertising positions, providing resume referrals for your consideration and assisting with logistics as needed. Advantages for employers who hire student interns include:
- An inexpensive method to get special projects done, using upper-class students trained in a specific discipline.
- An opportunity to infuse the workplace with talent and fresh ideas
- An opportunity to provide low-cost training and screening, resulting in less cost-per-hire, and a way to hire experienced, full-time employees after graduation who have already demonstrated a "fit" with the company
- An opportunity to provide service to the University of Maine by hiring student interns
